When life hands you lemons...

Updated: Jul 19, 2018

I never thought of myself as a writer, but I am finding that I love to write, especially when I am going through something in my life. The saying goes when life throws you lemons you make lemonade, right?! Although, at this point I cannot share what I am going through, I can say this is going to be a HUGE pitcher of lemonade. This storm is very personal and heartbreaking and I look forward to sharing this testimony one day, because God has NEVER failed me.

Many of you know God completely set me free three weeks ago last night and I can assure you it didn’t take the enemy long to rip through my life like an unexpected tornado in the middle of a beautiful party. For the past few days I have been in a haze of complete sadness and sorrow. I haven’t had any desire to do anything productive and I’ll be honest last night I did want to go to church but I was so tired emotionally I didn’t want to put forth the effort to dress and go. I’m so glad I pushed through and went because the word of God was spoken into my spirit and I realized this isn’t my battle.

Matthew 8:23-27 tells of an amazing story with Jesus and his disciples.

Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples.  Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “Even the winds and waves obey him!”

If Jesus did it for them then, he will do it for us now. We have to believe and not allow this current storm to overtake us. We can’t wallow in our sadness and expect things to change. If you keep going that route than you’re going to wake up one morning in a darkness of full blown depression and have no idea how you got there or how to get out.

Sometimes you’re going to go through things and maybe you’re right now that hit your heart like no other and change you, but you have to remember God never changes.

We get so caught up in the emotions of the storm that we seem to forget the power of God to heal, restore, break chains, and set the captive free. I have to constantly remember my Gods not dead he’s surely alive and he’s living on the inside roaring like a lion.

The enemy wants to put the blinders on us through a storm so we don’t fight and by the end of the storm we are no longer free. Well satan, let me tell you something I am free and I WILL stay free. This too shall pass and God will get ALL the glory and once again he will use something I have faced and come through to change people’s lives. He doesn’t get to win, I am strong, and my God is stronger, and he always brings me through victorious.

You don’t have to let him win either. My brother spoke a powerful word last night about speaking the word over yourself, and knowing the word. He said prayer and the word go together and many times we excel in one of those areas and the other lacks. We have to see the power in them together. I choose today to speak the word into my storm and watch God change this unexpected season of my life.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. Hebrews 2:1

Just a side note for all of you curious people, this storm is not my marriage…lol. Please for real keep my family in your prayers, God knows everything and prayer is greatly appreciated. I love all my friends and family you’re all amazing and I am so blessed to have you in my life. I pray that you’re all doing fabulous and if you’re facing a storm like so many of us are please remember you’re not alone and I hope this helped. Don’t turn your back on the only one who can bring peace to you. This storm is not his fault, we just live in a wicked world and sometimes bad things happen to good people. God can and will carry you through this onto the next mountain high, just don’t allow the waves to consume you. Isaiah 40:29 tells us; He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.

God bless and remember lemonade can be very refreshing!!
